Oracle End User Accounts

Introduction

Between March 31 and April 11, 2025, end user uniqname accounts in databases managed by HITS Oracle Services will be converted to directory authentication via Radius. After account conversion, end users will authenticate using their standard Michigan Medicine password. This will align Oracle accounts with existing security policies and resolve a related vulnerability. Conversions will be completed per the following schedule:

uniqnames beginning with:

  • a-c       March 31      7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
  • d-i        April 2            7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
  • j-l         April 4            7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
  • m-o     April 7            7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
  • p-s       April 9            7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
  • t-z        April 11          7:00 – 10:00 p.m.

Once your account is converted, please note the following will apply:

  • You will no longer need to reset your Oracle password as it will use the password you set on the Michigan Medicine User Profile page.
  • Your access liaison will still need to request/renew your database access.
  • Your Oracle accounts still require semi-annual login to avoid being deactivated in the database.
  • You will no longer be able to utilize database links using end user account credentials.
  • You may be required to use two-factor authentication if it is enabled elsewhere.

If you have an application process enabled with your end user account, it will need to be switched to an application account to avoid the above restrictions. If you require assistance, please submit a ServiceNow incident to the Oracle Services team.
