Introduction
If you have requested a change to your Classic-CoreImage computer such as installing new software, you can run Maintenance on-demand following the instructions below. You must be connected to the Michigan Medicine network either through a wired connection (Ethernet), wireless (Mfleet or UMHS-8021X), or--if remote--via the VPN (Cisco Secure Client). Depending on the scope of changes you requested, Maintenance may take as little as 15 minutes to complete, but some software package installations could dramatically increase its time to complete.
If Maintenance determines that the computer needs to reboot to finish implementing the changes or if an application update occurred that requires a reboot to complete, Maintenance will start an application that pops a window on-screen with a ten-minute countdown. You can delay the countdown via preconfigured options in a dropdown menu. If you ignore the countdown, at one minute prior to the automated reboot the application will pop back to the foreground and begin flashing. If you do not take any action to delay the reboot, the application will initiate a forced reboot that will close all open applications even if they have unsaved data.
