Introduction
Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) is built on a Microsoft-based cloud-hosted virtualization service that provides Michigan Medicine faculty and staff with remote access to a virtual Windows 11 desktop. This virtual desktop is similar to an HITS CoreImage Windows device. Additional information is available here.
Windows Virtual Desktop is available via a desktop client application (recommended method) for Mac or Windows or via a web browser for incidental use.
The following features require the Remote Desktop client application:
- Microsoft Teams
- Multiple monitor support Note: Do not use the "Optimize for Retina Displays" setting. Some applications in WVD will not work.

- Your Windows Virtual Desktop session will open, and you can begin using it.
- You can access applications by opening the start menu using the Windows logo on the taskbar.
