Windows Virtual Desktop - Sessions & User Profile

Issue

Are there timeouts in a Windows Virtual Desktop session? What happens to my settings when I start a new session?

Resolution

Session Timeouts

Sign in to Windows Virtual Desktop to start a new session.

The screen will lock after 10 minutes of inactivity.

You will be disconnected from WVD after 30 minutes of inactivity.

  • Sign back in to continue your current session.

You will be logged off completely after an additional hour of inactivity.

  • Sign back in to start a new session.

User Profile

The first time you sign into a Windows Virtual Desktop session with your Michigan Medicine name email address and UMICH password, a user profile will be created. Any customizations you make, such as pinning items to the Start Menu or changing the default browser, will be saved to your profile and will persist across each subsequent session.
