Introduction
Sometimes you may be using a computer that doesn't have access to all the resources a CoreImage Windows device does. If you do not have physical access to one, HITS offers two methods to access a managed computing environment: Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) and remotely connecting to a CoreImage Windows device (also known as RDP).
Windows Virtual Desktop is the recommended method for remote access to Michigan Medicine resources from non-HITS managed devices. The VPN is not required to use WVD. |
Instructions
Requirements to remotely connect to a CoreImage Windows device
- A CoreImage Windows device attached to the Michigan Medicine network. This is the "remote" computer.
- Your "local" computer connected to the Internet:
- Either a CoreImage Windows device or a CoreMac/IzzyMac device
- A personally owned computer
- Either a CoreImage Windows device or a CoreMac/IzzyMac device
- Remote Access rights to the CoreImage Windows device. Submit a request if you do not have those rights. Once the request is fulfilled and if the remote computer is a Classic-CoreImage, run Maintenance before attempting to remotely connect to it. Note that Intune-CoreImage devices do not use Maintenance.
