Overview
Michigan Medicine is implementing a new authentication method -- Imprivata OneSign -- on all Kiosk workstations to provide access to MiChart. It delivers an end-to-end authentication and access management solution that brings together authentication and single sign-on (SSO). It is a replacement for Caradigm SSO, which was the previous single sign-on (SSO) product on Kiosks when it was purchased by Imprivata. It will be implemented on a rolling basis starting in November 2020.
Imprivata OneSign (commonly known as Tap N Go) is a touch-based authentication tool that allows users access to the computer desktop using only their MCard. Computers equipped to use it are Kiosk mode only and utilize a USB proximity badge card reader. All users with a Michigan Medicine email address and an MCard are eligible to enroll in Imprivata OneSign. Users must be in Internet Explorer or Google Chrome in order to view the Imprivata Vault Tool properly.
Once authenticated, OneSign works for all equipped workstations for up to four hours. Users can tap the badge reader again to lock the workstation. Note that all applications remain open when locked; if the user plans to leave the workstation, they should log out using the yellow X.
Be aware that Imprivata OneSign and Fast Pass are two separate systems. While they do both involve badges, they don't interact with one another. Fast Pass is used to create visitor badges for Visitors and OneSign is a badge authentication system, which uses a badge reader for our employees to quickly log into Kiosk machines.
For issues, please call the Service Desk or submit a ticket ServiceNow. Escalations should go to the Local Device Support team before being assigned to CoreImage Engineering Services
You will need to register your badge with the new system the first time you log on to an updated computer by following the prompts on the screen (you will only need to do this once).
