Maintaining Access

Access to UpToDate lasts for 90 days (3 months) and renews every time you log in while connected to U-M Networks onsite or while connected to the UMVPN - All Traffic VPN profile. You will be prompted when your license is about to expire.

If you are offsite and need to renew your UpToDate personal account / license for access, follow these instructions.  NOTE: You won't be able to do this from your personal mobile device or workstation.

  1. Using a CoreImage UM/MM VPN enabled workstation/laptop, use Cisco AnyConnect to connect to the UMVPN - All Traffic VPN profile.  Note: For CoreImage Windows and CoreImage Mac users you can disconnect from the health system's UMHS SSL VPN and manually enter the campus umvpn.umnet.umich.edu to connect
  2. Use your uniqname and One Michigan password to sign in to the VPN. You will need to answer a Duo multi-factor prompt after your One Mich credentials are accepted.
  3. Finally, navigate to the UpToDate website via a browser, and then log into your UpToDate personal (non-UM/MM) account and your license will be renewed for another 90 days (3 months).

NOTE:  After successfully doing the above, you should then be able to access the UpToDate reference app/website from your personal non-VPN enabled device, when logging in using the re-activated UpToDate personal login credentials.
