Overview

Michigan Medicine supports a vital communication tool in the form of our +25,000 pagers throughout the hospital system. We offer multiple options to suit the needs of our organization. Pages can be sent using the Internal Home Paging System.

Statewide Pager (Black)

Statewide Black Pager

Statewide Pagers (aka 2A Pagers) are wide area pagers. They provide coverage in the hospital and within the state of Michigan. Just like cell phones, 100% coverage across the State of Michigan is not guaranteed. These pagers operate on frequency 931.5875. They will not operate on any other frequency.

Hospital Pager (Blue)

Statewide Blue Pager

Hospital Pagers (aka 3A pagers) are only able to receive pages within the Hospital and connected Medical School Campus. These pagers operate on frequency 929.4125. They will not operate on any other frequency.

Critical Pager (Red)

Critical Red Pager

Critical Pagers (aka 3A pagers) are in-house pagers used for medical emergencies and are not assigned to a specific person. These pagers only operate within the Hospital and connected Medical School Campus. These pagers operate on frequency 929.4125. They will not operate on any other frequency.

Specialty Pagers
Phantom Pagers - are pager listings that are not tied to a physical device and are covered by another pager. Phantom pagers are used when multiple people share coverage responsibilities for a department. A single pager listing is used by the team to provide coverage without needing an additional physical pager device.

Departments often use these to have a single Pager ID for a Department or team that can be covered without needing an additional physical device

Patient Waiting Pagers - are coaster pagers that are used in hospital waiting areas to alert patients and family.

Regional / Nationwide - are pagers that work outside the state of Michigan. Customers are assigned to these pagers in addition to a Statewide pager.

Regional – IN, OH, IL, KY and operate on pager frequency 929.9375. They will not operate on any other frequency.
Nationwide - all areas except Michigan due to operating on pager frequency 929.9375. They will not operate on any other frequency.
