Exam Outcomes Administration is used by the Evaluation and Assessment department to upload scores, manage and publish quizzes and exams taken by medical students. The quizzes and exams may have been administered in Examsoft or other platforms. The outcomes uploaded to and managed here are viewed in Learning Outcomes.

Workflow

Quizzes and Exams

Quizzes and Exams are administered to students using Examsoft a vendor product (ExamSoft Assessment Software). Once the testing period has ended the Office of Evaluation and Assessment downloads a csv of the students scores. (the only columns needed/allowed in Exam Outcomes is the UMID and Score). In Exam Outcomes, a quiz (or exam) is created with the relevant information populated. Then the scores are uploaded.

Cumulations

For Scientific Trunk courses each of the basic science sequence course gets a course cumulative. These are generated in Exam Admin using quiz and exam components that are in Exam Admin. 

The overall Scientific Trunk phase (or the M1 year) gets a year cumulation. This is generated in Exam Admin using the course cumulatives.

Competency Tagging

When creating any type of quiz/exam, you can select a competency domain or competency from a dropdown. This will cause the outcome to display in the Learning Outcomes Competency section in the Exam Outcomes table on  the appropriate competency domain tab.

Where is the Data Used?

When an outcome is published in Exam Admin the data appears in students' Learning Outcomes pages.

• Quiz and Exam type outcomes display in the Academic Outcomes tab, typically in the Scientific Trunk page within the course they were part of. They also display on the Quiz/Exam Chart page within Academic Outcomes. 
• Non-course type outcomes display in the Competency section, if they are tagged with a competency or competency domain, on the curricular phase tab matching the phase selected. 
• Individual Course Cumulations will display both in the Scientific Trunk page and on the Quiz/Exam Chart page within Academic Outcomes.
• Year Cumulations will display on the Academic Outcomes tab on the Summary Page.
• Scientific Trunk NBME outcomes display on the Academic Outcomes tab on the Summary Page.
  
  
  

Cumulations are also visible (published or unpublished) in the Cumulation Scoring Report in the Report hub. 
(This report is mostly used by the Office of Evaluation and Assessment, but access can be given to this report independently of access to Exam Admin)

From the Cumulation Scoring Report page, users can select which cumulation they wish to view, clicking on that row will open up a cumulation score report for that cumulation. This shows the overall statistics for the cumulation, individual statistics for each component, and a table with all students scores for each component and the overall cumulation.

Uploading Scores

To upload scores to Exam Outcomes Admin, use the Exam Outcomes Admin Upload CSV template, which has a column for the student's UMID and a column for scores.
