CoreImage - Overview

Overview

Since 1999, HITS has used CoreImage to name its Michigan Medicine owned, centrally managed Microsoft Windows devices that are automatically configured with packaged applications and institutionally required security settings to provide a reliable, secure, and supportable computing environment.

The CoreImage has two versions:  the Classic-CoreImage and the new Intune-CoreImage.  The Classic-CoreImage is managed with a set of systems composed of the HITS-developed Fleet Configuration System (FCS) and Microsoft's Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM).  The Intune-CoreImage is managed with Microsoft Intune--the same system that manages personal and corporate mobile devices.

Each workstation is assigned a unique Device Name.  The Device Name enables HITS to identify the device and its settings quickly when you may need to report a problem.
