Maintenance does not run automatically on CoreImage Flex devices, but it is still required.

Maintenance does not reboot a Flex device.  However, for monthly (or out of band) security patches to apply, the device must reboot.

The following details Maintenance requirements and reboot recommendations.

Make sure to schedule a time each month to run Maintenance and reboot your device.

You are also encouraged to do so prior to the following workflows:

• Before starting long-running processes (lab/computational/data acquisition)
• Before you leave on business trips/vacations
• Before (and after) installing new software/hardware
• Before periods of time when multiple users begin to share the device using Fast User Switching.
• Before gearing up for the new week.  The person in the lab could run Maintenance and reboot the device.

Have key people in the lab (or other locations where Flex devices are used) set a regular schedule to run Maintenance and reboot the device.
