Installation and Licensing:

License information:

This is a University of Michigan license, not a Michigan Medicine license. The license is administered by ITS, not HITS.

HITS does not buy SPSS licenses for any users. The code and the software must be purchased by the user through ITS from their ITS Software Store request form. 

The customer must enter their own shortcode and the email of the shortcode approver.  Once the user purchases the software, ITS sends back a license code and, if necessary, a link to the installer. 

The code expires in August of each year.  Each version has its own code and must be purchased and renewed annually by all users.

Additional questions or issues with the licenses can be addressed by contacting ITS at: its.software@umich.edu (this will create a ticket within their system).

Installation:

For CoreImage Windows Workstations:

• Purchase the license from the ITS Software Store (details above)
• Submit a request and attach your proof of license through the HITS SPSS (IBM) catalog request form. 
• Once the request form is submitted, the HITS Service Desk will provision the desired version of SPSS to install onto the CoreImage Windows computer.
  • Note: There are multiple packages available for SPSS e.g. v29 and v28
• Once the software is installed the user will have to enter the code using the License Authorization Wizard (LAW) which is part of the SPSS install.

For CoreMacs:

• Purchase the license from the ITS Software Store (details above). 
• Install the software by using CoreMac Managed Software Center process.
• Activate the software with your license.
