Introduction
To be ready to complete the required WaaS upgrade, you'll need at least 30 Gigabytes (GB) of free space.
To determine how much disk space is available, click on the Start Menu .
- Type "This PC."
- When it comes up under Best Match, click on it to open.
- The available space on your computer will appear under Devices and drives.
Instructions
Determine which files are using the most space
- Under This PC, select a folder to see what files are saved in it.
- The Videos, Music, Pictures, and Downloads folders usually contain the largest files that you've saved to your device.
- To see the size of the files in a folder, select View > Details.
- Click on Sort by and select Total Size from the dropdown menu to show the largest files at the top of the list.

- If you have files you wish to keep, you can move them to an external/shared drive or cloud storage.
Remove unnecessary files
- Open the Start menu and click on Settings.
- Under Windows Settings, click on System.
- Click on Storage.
- Move any unnecessary files to external or cloud storage or delete them from the device by doing the following:
- Click on Show more categories and click on a group of files (Documents, Pictures, etc.).
- Go through and delete any that are no longer needed.
Reboot to complete upgrade process
Within 24-36 hours, you should be prompted to reboot your device to complete the upgrade. You can choose to Reboot Now or to Delay Reboot by selecting an option from the Delay for dropdown menu.
If you do not choose to reboot during your current session, the update will run automatically the next time your device powers up while it is connected to a Michigan Medicine network or via VPN.
After your upgrade is complete, and you have re-started your computer, you can verify that the upgrade was successful.
