FlowJo License Costs and Availability

Although HITS collects short codes, we are not charging them. We use the short codes to help us more accurately track software usage, which helps keep our costs low.

FlowJo Licenses Types

FlowJo has two different licenses available. Both require that each user of the software have a FlowJo portal account. The creation of a FlowJo portal account can be done at cloud.flowjo.com or can be done from within the FlowJo application itself, as long as the version of FlowJo is v10.5 or higher. Use your “@med.umich.edu" email account as your username for your portal account. The FlowJo Portal password is not tied to your UMICH credentials.

The two types of licenses are:

  • User License: The software is licensed by the end-user with a portal account. The software can be installed on up to four (4) computers but can be used only by that one end-user.
  • Shared Lab Computer License: The software is licensed per computer and can be used by anyone with a portal account, but the software can be used only on that licensed computer. This license is best used for labs where multiple users use the same machine.

Your laboratory may need a combination of these two types. A separate request must be submitted for each user or each machine.
