Remote Desktop Connection allows you to view and control a computer remotely.  This article provides instructions for connecting from personal devices or unmanaged Michigan Medicine devices. HITS only supports access via our Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) service.  One would connect to WVD from a personal or unmanaged device and connect to the CoreImage device from within WVD.

Prerequisites

To remotely log into a CoreImage Windows machine you will need the following:

• Access to Windows Virtual Desktop.
  
  
• You must first have been set as a Remote User on the target computer.
  
  
• You must have the Device Name of the target computer you want to access.

1. Sign into Windows Virtual Desktop.
   
   • Web Client Access
   • Windows Client Instructions
   • Mac Client Instructions
     
     
2. Click the start menu and type Remote Desktop Connection and click on the application in the results to launch it.
   
   
   
3. Enter the Device Name in the Computer field and click connect.
   
   
   
4. Enter your UMICH password in the Windows Security pop up prompt and click OK.
   
   
   
5. You will see a "Configuring remote session" loading screen as you wait for the initial connection.
   
   
   
6. Once it loads you will be presented with the desktop of the target device.
