Introduction
Epic's Caboodle (formerly "Cogito Data Warehouse") is an enterprise data warehouse platform that brings together information from various sources in a curated healthcare data model for improved data management and analytics. Think of Caboodle as a data store used to make reporting and data exploration easier.
Caboodle is a SQL Server database and uses an extract-transform-load (ETL) process which pulls information from Clarity into Caboodle (Please note that not all Clarity data is loaded into Caboodle). Data is updated daily through the ETL process and can be up to 24 hours behind real-time. Other external data can be loaded into Caboodle in addition to the data from Clarity.
Along with Chronicles and Clarity, Caboodle is part of Epic's Cogito suite of business intelligence (BI) tools. The data can be accessed using SQL Server Management Studio, Toad Data Point, or other database query tools. Caboodle also includes a built-in data dictionary.
Caboodle continues to be expanded, and together with the help of the self-service report tool SlicerDicer, you can combine data in reports and dashboards to address even more of Michigan Medicine's reporting needs in the future.
Summary
