ServiceNow - Compare Two Versions of the Same Article


Introduction

Knowledge articles are periodically updated to maintain their content.  Each time an article is revised and re-published, it is assigned a new version number in ServiceNow.  This article explains how to compare two versions of an article, contrasting the changes between each version.

Instructions

  1. In ServiceNow, open the Knowledge module by navigating to Knowledge > Articles > All.

    Select the Knowledge view most appropriate to find the knowledge article in question.  In this example, the "All" filter is selected.

  2.  Find the Knowledge article to be reviewed and click the Number link to access the article with multiple versions.

    Select the Knowledge entry by clicking the corresponding link in the "Number" field.

  3.  Scroll down to the related lists within the article and click the Article Versions tab.  Click the checkbox for each of the versions to be compared.

    Select the checkboxes next to the article versions to be compared.

  4.  Select Compare in the dropdown box at the bottom of the section.

    Click the "Compare" button within the dropdown menu.

  5.  The screen will now display the multiple versions of the article, with the differences highlighted.

    The screen will display the version, contrasting the differences.
