Overview
As a MiChart user, you may be asked to attend classroom training and complete required online training related to your job role. Training is required for all users before access is granted to MiChart and is directly tied to your specific MiChart role. This page provides everything you need to be successful in your MiChart training.

MiChart Clinical Training is Virtual
In the majority of cases, faculty and staff will receive critical MiChart Clinical Applications training through virtual training sessions rather than in-person.
- Live classes are held at their regularly scheduled times.
- Participants can take classes from home or onsite depending on department requirements.
- Please note that tablets, ipads, iphones, chromebooks or mobile phones will not be sufficient for this course. Units and managers should ensure that users have a comfortable dedicated workspace with a desktop or laptop computer, internet, phone or headset, and paper and pen/pencil.
- Training participants are enrolled in Cornerstone for classes by facilitators. Facilitators may notice the location will say "Online Webinar."
- Instructions for logging in to the training session are emailed directly to the participant at their med.umich.edu email account prior to the session.
- Participants will continue to receive hands-on experience in the practice environments in order to ensure the best opportunity for learning.

Your local MiChart Cornerstone facilitator is responsible for ensuring you are assigned the appropriate curriculum and enrolled in the appropriate classroom training. If you are unsure about who your facilitator is, please contact your manager (Clinicians and Staff) or your Clinical Department Administrator (Providers).
- Facilitators should check Cornerstone for the most up-to-date schedule for each course.
- If no sessions are listed for a course, please follow the MiChart Course Request process.
Course Cancellation Policy
Training courses with zero enrollment will be cancelled by 9:00 AM on the Friday before the scheduled course date. Please refer to the Training Cancellation Policy for more specific information. Students who arrive at class more than 15 minutes late may be asked to reschedule.
Training Registration Process
New hires are not able to assign themselves MiChart curricula. Each unit's MiChart Facilitator will assign training for staff in their area. For most classroom courses, facilitators will enroll new hires, but learners also have the ability to enroll themselves. Some advanced or proficiency courses do allow for self-enrollment.
Prerequisites in Cornerstone
Once enrolled in MiChart training, eLearning prerequisites are automatically delivered to your transcript in Cornerstone as part of a MiChart Curriculum. Prerequisite modules should be completed prior to attending classroom training. Access to MiChart is not granted until all steps of the training process are successfully complete.
Mac Users: You may experience some issues when running Safari. As an alternative, please launch eLearning sessions in Chrome or Firefox.
Communications Regarding your Training
Once you've been enrolled in MiChart training, you should receive email communications with additional information related to the day, time, and location of any classroom training you may have, as well as information regarding any online learning you must complete.
