Secure Mobile Devices

InTune

To connect to the Michigan Medicine network from a personal mobile device, like an iPhone, you must install InTune and enroll your device. InTune is a Microsoft app that is used to make sure that personal mobile devices are encrypted and have the appropriate compliance settings, like passcode complexity.

In turn, this allows personal mobile devices to connect to the Michigan Medicine network and use the Outlook app to view your Michigan Medicine email and calendar. Note that you are able to use a mobile browser (e.g. Chrome app) to check email and calendar without installing InTune. InTune also conveniently installs some university apps, like Zoom, but InTune is not necessarily required for those apps. It depends on the app.

InTune does NOT collect or manage your personal data, location, or apps. If your mobile device is lost or stolen, InTune will remove all Michigan Medicine data from the device. InTune will NOT wipe the entire device.

Clinical Research Participant Devices

Clinical research studies frequently have participants use wearable devices.  If you have questions about these, please contact HITS for a consultation to determine if the devices you're considering are pre-approved or if they need to be reviewed for use in the study.
