Anyone who needs to correct a Manager on a learner’s Cornerstone profile.
How Cornerstone gets an employee’s Manager information:
Cornerstone’s Manager field is received the employee's HR record in MPathways (Supervisor ID) for people with regular or temporary appointments.
Non-employees in Cornerstone (vendors, contractors, students) have the responsible person associated with their Michigan Medicine Sponsored Account listed as their manager in Cornerstone. This is generated from the HITS Identity Vault and managed by the Identity and Access Management team.
Instructions
What to do (based on the person’s relationship type)
- Michigan Medicine employee (regular or temp appointment)
Update the person’s supervisor in M-Pathways/Wolverine Access (Single User Updates / Multiple User Updates).
Cornerstone will automatically update the Manager based on that change. These changes can take up to 24 hours. - Student who is also a Michigan Medicine employee. Their Manager will populate automatically from M-Pathways job data (same as above).
- Sponsored / non-employee learner (Level 2 account) Examples: agency temp, contractor, volunteer, visiting faculty, some students. Their “manager” in Cornerstone comes from the responsible person on the sponsored account—not from M-Pathways. To update this, use the Michigan Medicine Account Request Tool (ART) knowledge article.
General Cornerstone User Record Information
The Cornerstone User Record is populated from the HITS Identity Vault, which consolidates user information from multiple systems to create a complete Michigan Medicine user profile. Job-related data in the Identity Vault is sourced from MPathways.
If an employee’s job information is incorrect in Cornerstone, take the following steps:
- Review the employee’s HR record in MPathways to confirm the job data is accurate.
- If corrections are needed, work with your HR team to make to appropriate updates.
- If the HR record is correct and their is still a discrepancy, submit an incident to the HITS Accounts and Access team.
Once the job data is corrected at the source, the employee’s Cornerstone account will automatically update within 24 hours.
