Overview
The Meridian Insights hub is a destination for charts and reports about faculty lifecycle activities (Planning, Hiring, and Promotion) handled within Meridian. Here you will be able to see data visualizations and download reports about a variety of topics, which are intended to provide analytical insights for both Departments and leadership at the Medical School.
Note: Currently, the content inside the Insights hub is specific to your role (Department user, OFA, MSS, PE, etc.). This means that the reports and charts you have access to may not be exactly what others have. This is an actively expanding area so more content for additional roles will be coming soon.
Let us know of future reports and/or charts you would find valuable! Email the Faculty software team here. |
Faculty lifecycle data can be quite sensitive, and so the Insights hub adheres to the same strict permissions that other sections of Meridian adhere to, namely that users can only see data for departments they have access to, as well as the topic to which they have access (Planning, Hiring, or Promotion).
If you have access to multiple departments, the reports and charts will correspond to the department you currently have selected. Use the Department dropdown menu in the header to switch departments, which will cause the source to correspondingly switch as well. (Selecting "Medical School" will combine all departments' data into one file for the given report/chart, if you have access at that level).
Reports:
The Reports section contains self-service downloadable data files about a variety of topics, in the form of CSV (compatible with Excel). These reports are created on-the-fly with up-to-the-minute data freshness, meaning that data added or changed somewhere else in Meridian will be immediately reflected in these reports.
Simply click the "CSV/Excel" link and your report will be generated and be downloaded to your computer. Opening it in Excel or some other data analytics application will allow you to browse the data and/or use it in your own further analyses.
Dashboard (Charts):
The Dashboard section presents data about various topics in a visual format via charts/graphs. Like the reports, these charts are created on-the-fly with up-to-the-minute data freshness, meaning that data added or changed somewhere else in Meridian will be immediately reflected in the charts upon page load.
Accompanying each chart is a "hamburger" menu ( ) that contains links to downloadable versions of each chart, notably the Data Detail. This data detail download is all of the datapoints that are used in the chart; it is exportable to CSV (Excel), so that you can create your own visualizations based on the data.
The charts are interactive in other ways too:
- Click on an item in the legend to focus in on it (hiding all other legend items)
- Hover over a datapoint to get more information about it
- Click the box icon in the upper right of each chart to widen the chart (click again to return it to its original size)
