How Windows Virtual Desktop Works
WVD allows users to access Michigan Medicine's resources remotely by creating a virtual environment that mimics the experience of using a physical desktop at work. This ensures seamless access to necessary tools and data without the need for a VPN.
Who Has Access to Windows Virtual Desktop?
Anyone with access to Michigan Medicine's Microsoft 365 services can use Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD). This includes all Michigan Medicine faculty, staff, and students.
Limitations
Limitation | Description |
Teams Meetings |
WVD supports audio and video in Teams Meetings when using the Microsoft Remote Desktop application on Windows and Mac computers. However, accessing WVD through a web browser to participate in a Teams meeting is not supported.

Other Applications | Audio or video conferencing applications such as Zoom, Jabber, and Cisco WebEx are not supported. |
