ARB Suite - Consolidated Grading

Introduction

The Consolidated Grading tab in ARB>Grading allows an assessment and grade to be captured together, for types of courses where there is only one assessor per course.

This feature makes it possible for anyone authorized for the Consolidated Grading role to both assess and grade the students in their course. Note that a member of the OMSE staff must first assign the faculty member as the assessor/grader of the course.

As with other grading types, once grades are released, they will be available to students in Learning Outcomes, and are added to a report that the Registrar team generates periodically in order to upload new or revised grades to MPathways.

Instructions

The Consolidated Grading page is a tab under the Grading hub. It is visible to you if you are assigned to a Consolidated Grading course (via the Manage Graders tab) or are authorized for the Consolidated Grading oversight role (OMSE only).

If you assigned as a Consolidated Grader, you can:

  • Click on a student's row to open the "Complete the Assessment and Assign a Grade" window
  • Complete all the required questions in the assessment
  • Then scroll down and Select a Grade
  • If you are not finished, you can select "Continue Later" to simply close this window (all answers are auto-saved)
  • If you are finished, click the "Submit" button

Once finished with some or all of the grading for your students, you must Release the grades before they are viewable to the students:

  • Click the dark blue "Release Grades" button
    • This releases the grades of any students whose Grade Status was "Submitted"
    • You should see the row(s) turn green and the status switch to Released

The release process makes visible the grades in students' Learning Outcomes, and adds them to the report the Registrar team runs periodically to upload grades to MPathways.

At any time, graders can return to the page as needed where they can:

  • Continue working on unsubmitted grades
  • Reopen a grade (if Submitted or Released) by clicking on a student row and clicking the Reopen button
    • After reopening, change assessment answers and/or change the grade
    • Clicking "Submit" re-submits the grade (and re-releases it, if it had been previously released before reopening)
