The Clinical Homepage - How to access the new Clinical Home Page in SharePoint Online

Introduction

Continuing efforts to centralize internal resources onto one digital workplace platform, the Clinical Home Page is moving from med.umich.edu/clinical to the One Michigan Medicine intranet on SharePoint (michmed.org/clinical) in January 2025. The old Clinical Home Page site will be retired on March 1, 2025.

  • The content, links, and layout of the Clinical Home Page remain the same
  • Moving the Clinical Home Page to the One Michigan Medicine centralizes our resources and offers improved search and navigation.
  • The move of the Clinical Home Page to SharePoint coincides with the launch of the Edge UMICH web browser on Kiosk computers, which bypasses login for SharePoint and other essential applications

  • You can visit the Clinical Home Page on SharePoint now at michmed.org/clinical. Please review the page and share your feedback!
  • The Clinical Home Page on SharePoint will be available on Kiosk computers beginning the week of January 20

February 18 Link and Shortcut Updates

On February 18, Kiosk links updated to open the Clinical Home Page in SharePoint, in preparation for the retirement of the legacy Clinical Home Page on March 1. Some minor workflow changes are recommended to avoid logins. Additionally, a new Kiosk desktop shortcut for VPlaces was added to fix access issues with the Edge UMICH browser.

1. MiChart UMHS Links

Update: Within MiChart, the Clinical Home Page link in the UMHS Links section will open the Clinical Home Page on SharePoint.

Impact & Recommended Action: Opening the Clinical Home Page from the MiChart UMHS Links menu will require a login to M365. To avoid logging in, open the Clinical Home Page through the Edge UMICH browser (found on the taskbar and desktop).

2. VPlaces desktop shortcut

Update: On Kiosk computers, a new shortcut will appear for VPlaces to access Citrix-hosted applications on the web.

Impact: This shortcut fixes issues with VPlaces access on the Edge UMICH browser (on Kiosks). This shortcut is not applicable to Standard CoreImage computers.

New Way to open VPlaces on Kiosk: Click the VPlaces desktop shortcut or link in the start menu. Do not use the MiChart link on the SharePoint Clinical Home Page to access Citrix-hosted applications on Kiosk – it will not launch any apps.

3. Standard Edge browser launch page

Update: The standard Edge browser (not the Edge UMICH browser) will launch with michiganmedicine.org on Kiosks.

Impact: Launching a public site like michiganmedicine.org ensures users are not immediately greeted with a login page on Kiosks. Continue to use the Edge UMICH browser to access the Clinical Home Page, M365, and other applications without signing in.
