CryoEM (Cryo-Electron Microscopy) HPC - How to create a new Project

Introduction

This article is written to help new users of the CryoSparc Cluster create a new project for the first time. If you need additional help with the content of this article, feel free to reach out via our help form. If you need more information on what the CryoEM service is, start with our landing page. NOTE: You will not be able to do the below instructions until an account has been requested and made for you for Cryosparc.

Instructions

Step 1. Navigate to the Projects view by clicking on the drawer icon on the left sidebar.

Step 2. Click on the "New Project" button that appears in the top middle of the screen.

Step 3. A panel will open on the right side, like the below, configure the values according to your needs.

NOTE: For the container directory above, you'll want to set that to the top level location that you want to store your project at, this should be a location at /nfs/turbo/lsi-umms-cryoem/Your Project Folder or /nfs/turbo/lsi-umms-cryoem/*username*/Your Project Folder depending on how you would like it to be setup.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Do not place project directories in $HOME. If the project directory is placed in $HOME your jobs will not run.  As the $HOME directory is not shared between the Cryosparc cluster nodes.

Step 4. Feel free to also create and name the initial workspace as part of project creation. Once everything is set click Create Project at the bottom of the panel.

Step 5. Complete! Project is created and ready for use.
