Introduction
What is a Virtual Private Network or VPN?
A Virtual Private Network commonly referred to as a VPN describes a protected network connection between two locations when using public networks. VPNs encrypt your internet traffic which makes it more difficult for third parties to steal data.
What is the Virtual Private Network (VPN) Annual Validation Process?
The Virtual Private Network (VPN) Annual Validation Process is a set of steps defined to ensure that entries in the ServiceNow Virtual Private Network table (cmdb_ci_vpn) which represent site to site connections are reviewed annually by the Trusted IT Service Provider (TSP) who supports the investment that uses the VPN. Annual review using ServiceNow Data Certification Tasks ensures that the data in the table is accurate based on current operating state.
How do I complete a Data Certification Task assigned to me for VPN Annual Certification process?
TSP's will receive an email from ServiceNow indicating that a certification task has been assigned and requires your attention. Click on the task linked in the email and follow the instructions to complete the certification process. (Your Certification Tasks can also be found directly in ServiceNow here or by browsing to Data Certification -> Tasks -> My Tasks.)
Each Virtual Private Network table entry listed in the Certification Task must be reviewed and confirmed for accuracy. If you are unable to complete your certification task in one session, you can certify some Virtual Private Network table entries and come back to the task at another time. Be sure to complete the entire task before the due date. Instructions for obtaining assistance are also provided in the Data Certification Task.
