Overview
OneM365. A New Era of Collaboration Is Coming.
Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) is spearheading an initiative to harmonize the productivity and collaboration tools used across the entire Michigan Medicine community—including U-M Health, U-M Medical School, UM Health-West, and UM Health-Sparrow. This effort is a key step toward fostering a more connected, efficient, and collaborative digital workplace.
Soon, all team members will be fully transitioned into a unified Microsoft 365 (M365) environment. This will enable seamless communication and collaboration across departments and locations, allowing everyone to work together as if they were in the same “virtual building.”

Your personal network files are moving to a modern, secure, and accessible home—Microsoft OneDrive. Using M365 Groups to Create and Manage Microsoft Teams and Other MS Applications ↗
M365 groups allow everyone in a group to have access to a shared set of M365 tools for easy collaboration. Along with integrated group management, M365 groups provide us with group owners, which unlocks new capabilities.
M365 Group Expiration Policy↗ and Ownerless Group Policy↗
Microsoft 365 Groups (used to create and manage membership in Teams, Outlook, Planner, SharePoint and more) help colleagues collaborate more effectively. To reduce clutter and improve efficiency, groups that remain inactive for one year will be set to expire. M365 Groups require at least one active owner to manage membership, settings and lifecycle.
