Introduction
HITS provides a large catalog of packaged applications available to install on your CoreImage device. Refer to this article for a list.
Some applications must be requested; others can be installed directly from Software Center or Company Portal.
- Classic-CoreImage devices use Microsoft's Software Center application to run Maintenance to get applications.
- Intune-CoreImage devices use Microsoft's Company Portal application to install applications.
Many software packages are available in Company Portal on an Intune-CoreImage device. You should not follow the instructions below if you can find the application in Company Portal. Always check Company Portal to see if you can quickly install an application before requesting it via the catalog. If you don't see the application in Company Portal, you should follow the steps below. |
Instructions
This information applies to both Classic and Intune-managed CoreImage products.
For Packaged Applications not available in Software Center or Company Portal
- Go to the Michigan Medicine Help Center and select Submit a Ticket.
- Click on Software in the Categories list to find the specific software application, or search for it manually by using the search box at the top right of the screen.
- Fill out the software request form.
- Once you receive notification that the software has been added to your device:
- Classic-CoreImage: Manually run Maintenance by following the steps in this knowledge article. If your machine runs Maintenance on a schedule, you can wait for it to install automatically during the next Maintenance cycle which typically occurs overnight.
- Intune-CoreImage: The software will install automatically within a few hours if not minutes, but you can expedite that process by following these steps.
For Non-Standard Software
If you want software installed that is not packaged, you must do so on your own. Please note that installation of third-party software that is not packaged by HITS requires elevated (admin) privileges on CoreImage devices.
Please refer to the Just-in-Time elevated permissions process to request elevated privileges.
