Remote Access - Compare HITS Remote Computing Options

Introduction

HITS offers three main ways to access your files, folders, and applications while working at home or remotely.

  • Michigan Medicine Managed Device: A Michigan Medicine-provided Windows or Mac computer. This option is nearly identical to working onsite, except a VPN is required to access privileged Michigan Medicine resources.

  • Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD):  Access to a virtual (cloud-based) CoreImage-like Windows desktop from any computer and equipped with commonly-used applications, including MiChart and Microsoft Office 365 with Teams. All persons with access to Michigan Medicine's Microsoft 365 services such as Michigan Medicine email have access to WVD.
