Introduction
Users of PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, and other devices that do not have access to a CoreImage PC or CoreMac are able to access Michigan Medicine email using Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) or the Outlook Virtual App.
The Outlook desktop client and Outlook on the web are blocked by policy for use on devices other than CoreImage PCs or CoreMacs. Instead, HITS offers WVD or the Outlook Virtual App to access email. The Outlook Virtual App can be a good fit for users that were accustomed to using Outlook on the web or were performing other basic Outlook-focused workflows on their devices. See the instructions section below for links to learn more about these options.
You should not use WVD or any Virtual Apps if you have access to a CoreImage PC or CoreMac:
- CoreImage PCs come preconfigured with Outlook set to use your Michigan Medicine email.
- CoreMac ("Izzy") devices come with Office 365 installed; however, you will have to log into Office and thereby Outlook with your Michigan Medicine email address to access your mailbox.
To use mobile device to access your email, please refer to Outlook - How do I access my email on my Apple or Android mobile devices?
