Introduction
Flex mode is one of the three versions of Classic-CoreImage Windows platform that HITS offers for Michigan Medicine managed workstations. More details about Flex are available on Classic-CoreImage - Flex Mode.
Instructions
Anyone using a Classic-CoreImage Windows system can request their system be switched to Flex mode by submitting a request via the Request for Flex catalog item.
If a user contacts their local Device Support team or the Service Desk directly, they will be instructed to submit the request via the HITS link above.
Flex User Process
- Once the service catalog item is requested, the customer will be asked to review and agree to the Flex disclaimer (below).
- Once they agree, the service request item will be sent to the local Device Support team for review.
- Any member of that support team can approve the request after a consultation with the customer.
Flex User Responsibilities
By having my Classic-CoreImage device running Flex mode, I understand and accept the following responsibilities:
- I am responsible for making sure that I reboot my device at recommended intervals (CoreImage - Flex mode reboot recommendations for users).
- I am responsible for making sure that I run Maintenance at recommended intervals (Classic-CoreImage - Flex-Mode Maintenance Requirements).
- I am responsible for making sure that all Windows Feature Updates are applied when available (CoreImage - Windows as a Service (WaaS)).
- I understand that failure to keep my device up to date with maintenance, WaaS updates, and reboots can result in removal of my device from the network.
- I understand that updates due to a threat deemed critical by Information Assurance may require my device to be updated and rebooted at the institution's discretion with little or no warning.
- I understand that any interruption due to an automatic reboot may cause a loss of data that cannot be fully recovered.
- I understand that, in general, I am responsible for safeguarding my data and using available services to back up and save important data. HITS will not be held responsible for any lost or unrecoverable data.
