Overview
SAS (originally Statistical Analysis System) is statistics software for application development and data access, management, analysis, and presentation. SAS has a variety of routines that make it a powerful and flexible tool not only for statistical analysis, but also for data management, graphical displays, and many other types of tasks.
SAS is licensed by ITS on behalf of all of the University of Michigan. It is NOT licensed by HITS/Michigan Medicine. This is true for both SAS client and SAS Server. However, HITS pays ITS for the SAS Server license files (NOT SAS client) on behalf of Michigan Medicine.
As a Michigan Medicine-affiliated SAS Server administrator, when your license file says it is about to expire, simply submit an Academic Applications Consult request. A ticket will be sent to the HITS Academic Applications team who will reach out to you, so that they can email you the license file
There is a separate KB for SAS Client information.
This software is also listed in the U-M Software Directory.
