CoreImage - Shut down, logoff, restart, and sleep

Introduction

What do each of these mean?

  • Sleep
  • Shut down
  • Restart (reboot)

Each of these power options does something different to your CoreImage PC. It's important to know the difference between them when selecting which to use.

NOTE:  If you have a problem with your CoreImage PC, please restart (reboot) to see if your issue is resolved before seeking support.

  • Sleep puts the device into a lower power mode but keeps your applications loaded in memory so you can pick up where you left off. Sleep is only possible on CoreImage laptops.

  • Shut Down closes all processes on the device and turns it off completely. It must be manually turned on again.

  • Restart (this is often called a reboot) causes the device to go through the complete shutdown and start up cycle. A restart is often required after software is installed or during troubleshooting.

Please Note: It is highly encouraged that you reboot your CoreImage PC if it has been powered on for more than 24 hours.
