What exactly is the FaxServer?
It is a vendor (Upland) application server. It has 96 available modem channels. It sends/receives analog faxes, and turns them into picture attachments (.tif) by default. In turn, those documents are then able to be received internally to an email account, file share directory, or printer (or combination thereof). This service is supported 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Can I convert an (analog) fax line over to the digital FaxServer?
In most cases, yes. Procedure TBD
Who do I contact for issues related to a physical fax machine?
HITS does not service or troubleshoot physical fax machine issues. You should have information on the side of the machine, or through a department representative about who to contact for service & maintenance.
For Telephony issues, you can submit a service request through the following URL: https://hits.medicine.umich.edu/collaboration/communication/telephones-headsets#request-new-changes-service-or-device
Are there reports available?
Yes, we have the ability to create automated reports that can be emailed or viewed via a web page. We can schedule them to run daily, weekly, or bi-weekly. The standard report shows sender, date, quantity, and page count with corresponding totals at the bottom. These reports have helped others show the amount of work coming into, and leaving, their department. You can request your report via the Service Desk.
How can I upload the faxes that I have received?
Once you have saved the image locally, you can use the sweep function in MiChart under Media Manager. For more information, please download MiChart Imaging Documents.
How can I send faxes from my computer?

How can I request a new coversheet be added to the dropdown list in AccuRoute?
Submit a normal incident request to the Service Desk with your Microsoft Word document template. Our team will make edits and ask you for final approval before it's active in the system.
How can I update my work phone number that is displayed on the coversheet in Accuroute Desktop?
Click on this link and update your work phone number. Make sure the published box is checked. Your phone number should update the next time you restart the program.
How do I get owner rights to an existing fax server mailbox?
