Shared Drives - Accessing NAS File Servers

Overview

VPN access on CoreImage, CoreMac, or Intune Devices

The Michigan Medicine/HITS NAS file servers use Michigan Medicine (Level-2) passwords for authentication.

If using the CoreImage, CoreMac or Intune devices and need access to any Michigan Medicine server from offsite requires a university VPN client and profile to be installed on the machine. Once the VPN client is installed, the remote user must launch the VPN client and authenticate with an appropriate password to establish a VPN connection. After the VPN connection is established successfully, the server can be accessed as usual. Please refer to the guide: Intune-managed CoreImage - How to use network drives (H, R, S, and T) for more information.

VPN access on Personally Owned or Non-Managed Devices

Due to increasing cybersecurity concerns and in keeping with industry best practice, personally owned and non-managed devices will be restricted from utilizing Michigan Medicine VPN services.

Need access to Michigan Medicine resources, if using a personally owned or non-managed device?  Use the Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) service!
