How do I change my password?

The following are basic steps for changing your password. For more detailed information on changing your password, click here.

To change your password:

  1. Go to the User Access Application (UAA) website.
  2. Type in your Michigan Medicine (Level-2) username and password, and then click Login.
  3. In the Personal Information area, click My <count> Oracle Database Accounts

Note: If no Oracle databases are associated with your uniqname, this Personal Information area will not be visible; contact the  Clarity Access Administrator if you do not see an expected account.
  4. Click Edit in the row associated with the database you are changing the password for.
  5. In the Account Information window, verify the Account Status field contains a value of Open or Locked (TIMED).

Note: If the account status is Locked, you can continue changing your password but you will not be able to access your database account until it is reactivated. Contact your authorized signer for assistance.
  6. In the New Password field, type a new password, beginning with an alphabetic character; passwords contain at least six (6) characters.
  7. In the Retype New Password field, type again the new password.
  8. Click Reset Password.

How do I ensure my account remains active?

Your account remains active so long as you log in at least once every six months; you will receive email reminders one month prior and three days prior to your account being de-activated for non-use.

In addition, your account must be renewed by your Clarity Account Access Liaison every five (5) years. You will receive an email reminder 30 days prior to the date when your account must be renewed.

What should I do if I encounter problems logging in?

Password expiring or account inactive

If your account has been locked due to your password expiring or your account being inactive for too long, submit a Request for Help (Michigan Medicine (Level-2) credentials required) through the IT Services portal to request reactivation.

Important: Once you are notified that your account has been reactivated, reset your password as described in the notification, or you will be locked out again.

Other error message

Note the error message and submit a Request for Help (Michigan Medicine (Level-2) credentials required) through the IT Service Catalog; be sure to request the MiChart Cogito Administration assignment group in the Additional Information field.

How can I access additional areas of Clarity?

Access to Clarity is provided based on the principle of least privilege; you are only given access to the areas of Clarity that you need to complete the work you have been requested to do, If you need additional access to conduct your work, submit a request through the Data Access Management catalog item in ServiceNow (Level-2 credentials required):

  1. From the HITS Customer Service Portal, select Request Products and Services.

  2. From the list of Categories at the left, select Data and Reporting.

  3. Select Data Access Management.

  4. Complete the Data Access Management request form:
    1. On the Submitter Information page, confirm that your submitter information is correct
    2. Select the checkbox for Clarity - MiChart data and then click Next to go to the Options page.
    3. On the Options page, click Options.
    4. From the Request Type drop-down list, select Modify Account.
    5. Under Clarity Instance(s), select the instances of Clarity that should be updated with this change.
    6. For Clarity Roles to Add, enter any roles you want to add to your account.
When possible, please stipulate Epic application areas, not individual objects. If your job requires access at the object level (writing Oracle procedures, packages, etc.) you can request specific objects instead of application areas.
    7. For Clarity Roles to Remove, enter any roles that should be removed from your account. Again, please indicate Epic application areas, not individual objects.
    8. Be sure to explain the business reason for your change, and then click Next to open the Order Guide Details page.
    9. Click Order Now to submit your request.

Once we have received your request, someone from our staff will be in touch with you to confirm the request details and determine any next steps.
