Planner is a light weight, mobile and web-based application. With Planner you and your team can create plans, assign tasks, chat about tasks, and see charts of your team's progress. You can also use Planner from within Microsoft Teams and Microsoft SharePoint.

Coming soon in 2024 - New Microsoft Planner!
Starting in March 2024, Microsoft is consolidating Microsoft Project for the Web and Microsoft ToDo features and capabilities into the new Microsoft Planner (additional details Here). Microsoft will release The New Planner in two phases:
Phase 1 starting in March 2024
- Microsoft ToDo apps and add-ins will be renamed to Planner and ToDo features will be integrated into the Microsoft Planner Teams app.
- Microsoft Project for the Web features will be integrated into the Microsoft Planner Teams app. * Users must have Microsoft Project Plan 3 license to access the new Project for the Web features soon to be available in the Microsoft Planner Teams app.
- Users without a Project Plan 3 license will still have access to all Microsoft Planner and ToDo features in the Teams app.
- Microsoft Project for the Web users using the Project web app or Teams app will not be impacted and will be able to continue using either app through the 4th quarter of 2024 (calendar year).
Phase 2 starting in the 4th quarter of 2024 (calendar year)
- New Microsoft Planner web app will be released and will include full Microsoft Project for the Web functionality (available for users with a Microsoft Project Plan 3 license).
- Microsoft Project for the Web Teams app and web app will go away.

Minimum support model
Microsoft Planner operates under the Minimal Support Model. The Minimal Support Model consists of:
- Granting access to new users.
- Ensuring users can access the application.
- Ensuring there is self-help learning available.
