Environment

This article applies to both Classic-CoreImage Standard Mode devices and Intune-CoreImage devices with the full Teams and Outlook 365 applications installed.

Note:  This does not apply to those Classic-CoreImage devices with only a shortcut to Teams on the web.  If you want the ability to run the full Teams application on a Classic-CoreImage device, see KB0019091 for installation steps.

Cause

The Teams client application is not installed for your account or has an incorrect registry configuration.

Resolution

  1. Make sure that the Teams client application is installed for your user account on the Classic-CoreImage computer.  See KB0019091 for installation steps.  Intune-CoreImage systems will have Teams installed since it is a "required" application.

  2. If it is installed, make sure that the Teams client application is running before opening Outlook.  The Teams icon should be displayed in the System Tray.  If it is not running, start the application using its shortcut in the start menu.

    3. Click Perform to fix Teams/Outlook integration issues.

  4. If presence still does not appear in Outlook, use the Teams app to reset the feature.

    1. Open Teams.

    2. Click the three dots (...) next to your profile icon in the title/search bar at the top of the window.

    3. Click Settings in the menu.

    4. Locate the "Register the new Teams as the chat app for Microsoft 365" option under General settings.

    5. If it is already checked, uncheck it.

    6. Check the "Register the new Teams as the chat app for Microsoft 365" option and close the settings window.

    7. Reopen Outlook and the presence indicator should be visible.
