Step 4: Validate Account

  • The new employee's level 2 account is active.
  • Initiates an active, basic Cornerstone Learning account. (name, uniqname, and UMID) and places the new employee in the 02I Unclassified organization.
  • The account can be accessed by the ENCs/Facilitators to manually assign training using the person's User Record (MiChart or Department Specific) at this time if they have facilitator access for the 02I Unclassified organization.

Step 5: Employee Starts

  • On the new employee's start date (effective date), Identity and Access Management receives the employee's full job details, typically between 4am and 7:30am.
  • The new employees' Cornerstone Learning profiles are updated with their actual job information (manager, department(s), job(s), etc).
  • ENC/Facilitators with access to only employees within their associated organizations can access the new employee in Cornerstone.

Troubleshooting and Getting Help

What to do if new employee has the incorrect training assigned on day two?

  • Review the employee's profile in Cornerstone Learning for accuracy.

  • Is the profile incorrect or missing information?
    • If the incorrect information is the location, clinician flag or patient care area flag, update that information accordingly – no ticket needed. Note: assignments will not be updated immediately, rather they will be updated during the overnight training assignment processing.
    • For New Employee Orientation assignments, Cornerstone Facilitators, Managers and Admins can view the User Record> Employment Details>NEO Date: If this field is blank, the NEO assignment will not auto populate on a user transcript. This data must be entered in MPathways for the assignment to be activated. Advise Manager or Facilitator to manually assign Michigan Medicine New Employee Orientation (NEO) Introduction HUMA-C20001 to the new hire.
    • If the incorrect or missing information is the employee's job, department, or manager, submit a Cornerstone Learning Help Form

Note: MiChart training can be assigned by an ENC/facilitator updating the new employee's User Record after the employee's record is available within Cornerstone.
