Classic-CoreImage - GreenIT Deferment

Introduction

Classic-CoreImage devices are managed by Microsoft's SCCM whereas Intune-CoreImage devices are managed by Intune.

Intune-CoreImage devices do not participate in GreenIT whereas Classic-CoreImage systems still do.

Previously, the Workstation Information application allowed users to defer GreenIT shutdowns for a period of days.  Since Workstation Information is no longer part of either CoreImage product, users no longer have the ability to defer GreenIT themselves.

Instructions

If you are unable to consistently work within your device's GreenIT schedule, you may request that your device's GreenIT schedule be adjusted, or if the deviations are unpredictable, you may request that your device be excluded from GreenIT by entering a ticket with HITS.  Either an HITS Service Desk agent or a Device Support agent can address the requested changes; however, a Device Support manager's approval is needed if the request is to disable GreenIT.

Please request a new schedule by entering the days of the week you want changed and what time of day you want the Classic-CoreImage device to turn on and off.

Example 1 (a description):  I want the device to turn on each Monday and Tuesday.  The device should be on all day* Wednesday and not turn off until 5pm Thursday.  On Friday, it should turn on at 6am and turn off at noon. The device should remain off for the weekend until the following Monday morning.

Example 2 (a list):

  • Monday = 6am to 5pm
  • Tuesday = 6am to 5pm
  • Wednesday = turned on all day*
  • Thursday = midnight to 5pm
  • Friday = 6am to noon
  • Saturday and Sunday = turned off

*Note that "turned on all day" will be interpreted as GreenIT being off. So, for the example above, the device will turn on at midnight Wednesday and not turn off for another 41 hours at 5pm Thursday.
