Note that it is centered in the task bar versus to the left in Windows 10.

Windows 10:
Sign out / Lock

 

Windows 11:
Sign out

1. Click the Start Menu button.

2. Click your name.

3. Select Lock or Sign out.

3. Click the ellipses.

4. Select Sign out.

Note: Lock has been moved to the power icon.

Windows 10:
Sleep / Shut down / Restart

 

Windows 11:
Lock / Sleep / Shut down / Restart

1. Click the Start Menu button.

2. Click the power icon.

3. Select Sleep, Shut down, or Restart.

1. Click the Start Menu button.

2. Click the power icon.

3. Select Lock, Sleep, Shut down, or Restart.

Pinned apps

All apps

Tip:  Start typing the name of the app you want to launch to find it quickly instead of following the steps below.

Two steps:

1. Click on All Apps

2. Select the app from the alphabetical list to launch it.

Recommended items:

These are recently accessed files available for quick access.  Which items are displayed will update automatically with use.

1. Right-click on the Start Menu and choose Start settings.

2.  Select More pins or More recommendations.

Folder shortcuts

1. Right-click on the Start Menu and choose Start settings.

2. Click on Folders.

3.  Toggle the folders you want displayed.
