CoreImage - How to determine if my device is a Classic-CoreImage or an Intune-CoreImage?

Introduction

HITS offers two different CoreImage products:

  • Classic-CoreImage uses Microsoft's Software Center application to run Maintenance to get applications.

  • Intune-CoreImage uses Microsoft's Company Portal application to install applications.

The two products are different in many other ways, but the presence of either of these two applications, Software Center or Company Portal, are the easiest way to help you determine whether you are using a Classic-CoreImage or Intune-CoreImage.  Knowing which CoreImage product you are using will enable you to know which mechanism to use to get applications.

Instructions

  1. Search the start menu by click on the magnifying glass.

  2. Type in Software Center.  If it exists, then you are using a Classic-CoreImage.
    Windows 10 Windows 11

  3. If Software Center doesn't appear, then you are likely using an Intune-CoreImage.

  4. To ensure you are using an Intune-CoreImage, search for Company Portal instead.

  5. If neither search has positive results, first doublecheck your spelling, and if you still don't see one or the other, open a ticket with HITS.
