CoreImage - How to change the Windows 11 Taskbar grouping behavior

Introduction

Windows 11 introduces new taskbar behavior that depicts all instances of an application by one icon.  This is different behavior than Windows 10's default that showed a full label for applications on the taskbar.

Note that many of these applications are open, but you cannot see individual labels for their multiple windows (e.g., showing more than one Word document).

Instead, you can configure the taskbar to show labels for each window that is open, returning to the default Windows 10 behavior.

Instructions

  1. Right-click on the taskbar.

  2. Choose Taskbar Settings menu choice.

  3. Scroll down and click on Taskbar behaviors.

  4. Click on the drop-down menu next to the Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels option and choose your desired setting.  The When taskbar is full setting restores Windows 10 behavior.
