UMICH and Michigan Medicine Passwords

Before April 2024, all Michigan Medicine employees had two primary passwords:

  • UMICH (Level-1)
  • Michigan Medicine (Level-2)

From April to December 2024, all employees will transition to a single UMICH password for all logins. Employees who joined after April 3, 2024, already have only one UMICH password.

Uniqname

All UMICH employees have a user ID called a uniqname, which consists of 3 to 8 alphabetic characters. Your uniqname along with your UMICH password is used to access many U-M resources.

Note: Your uniqname is also the base for your Michigan Medicine email address: uniqname@med.umich.edu.

Passwords & Passcodes

Your uniqname and UMICH password provide access to essential Michigan Medicine resources. While your UMICH password is required to access for most applications, additional passwords may be required for other systems or databases.

Password Protection

Protecting data is crucial for patient care, research, and personnel security. Ensure your password is unique and avoid reusing it on other sites or sharing it.
