Introduction
The Epic Export Macro is available from the Epic website and integrates with Microsoft Excel as an add-in.
Due to security policies on CoreImage devices, installation of macros and/or add-ins in Excel and other Microsoft Office products may vary from the instructions provided by the vendor (e.g., Epic).
The instructions below are tailored for installation on a Michigan Medicine CoreImage device with Office 365 desktop applications (web versions of Office are not supported).

Instructions
- Close all instances of Microsoft Excel before continuing.
- Navigate to the Epic Standard Import Guide section named Install the Epic Export Macro.
- Click "Epic Excel Import Spreadsheet Generator.zip" to download the file.
- Click Accept and Download.
- Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the download location (e.g., C:\Users\uniqname\Downloads).
- Right-click "Epic Excel Import Spreadsheet Generator.zip" and select Extract All...
- Select the checkbox Show extracted files when complete, then click Extract.
- Select the checkbox Show extracted files when complete, then click Extract.
- Right-click "Epic Export Tools.xlam" and select cut.
- Navigate to your Michigan Medicine OneDrive and paste the "Epic Export Tools.xlam" file.
- Right-click "Epic Excel Import Spreadsheet Generator.zip" and select Extract All...
- Open a workbook in Microsoft Excel.
- Click File > Options.
- In the Excel Options dialog, click Add-ins, then click Go.
- In the Add-ins dialog, click Browse.
- In the Browse dialog, navigate to your Michigan Medicine OneDrive.
- Select the "Epic Export Tools.xlam" file and click OK.
- Ensure the checkbox is selected next to Epic Export Tools, then click OK.
- If you get a security warning, click Enable Content.
- If the Epic tab is now visible in the Ribbon, the installation is complete.
- Click File > Options.
Troubleshooting
- Verify you placed the "Epic Export Tools.xlam" file in your Michigan Medicine OneDrive.

- If you receive the errors below, follow the steps in KB0022521 to unblock the "Epic Export Tools.xlam" file.
- "This file type is not supported in Protected View."
- "Microsoft Excel cannot access the file ..."

- If you previously had the Epic Export Macro installed but it is no longer visible.
