Introduction
Launched in May 2025, the Reappointment activity hub is a software tool designed to assist Departments and the Office of Faculty Affairs in renewing visiting and adjunct faculty appointments.
Key Areas
Reappointment Roster
The Reappointment Roster lists faculty members eligible for reappointment of corresponding visiting and adjunct appointments. The Roster has the following columns:
- Legal Name (& uniqname)
- Current Appointment(s)
- Status
- Similar to the normal Meridian Roster, the Status column showcases when faculty are on a Short Work Break, Leave with Pay, Leave of Absence
- Reappointments
- Lists In Progress and Completed Reappointments for the faculty member. Click on the Reappointment hyperlink to access the specific details of the Reappointment.
- Initiate Reappointment
- Clicking the button in this column initiates a new reappointment for a faculty member. Please note, if the faculty member has multiple eligible reappointments there will be a dialog box asking the user to select the radio button for the appointment the user wants to initiate. Permissions and in progress reviews are taken into consideration for this action.
The Roster can be filtered to narrow down your view by Implied Track; this is a new way to connect each Supplemental Track visiting and adjunct appointment rank to the Tenure, Clinical, Lecturer or Research Track. Filters are remembered as you navigate in the application or when you next return to the application.
Reappointment Workflow Detail
Reappointment workflows are initiated via the Roster Initiate Reappointment column for a specific faculty member.
The high level process flow has the following statuses in order:
- Preparing Draft: The Department Admin is creating the Draft Reappointment Letter and deciding the Renewal Date. To proceed to the next status, the Renewal Date must be set and Draft Letter must be uploaded.
- Awaiting Draft Approval: The Reappointment is awaiting Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) review on the Draft Letter. Once that has been reviewed and approved, OFA will transition the Reappointment to Preparing Final by clicking "Approve Draft".
- Preparing Final: The Department Admin is creating the Final Reappointment Letter and marking the Reappointment workflow as "Ready for Approval". To proceed to the next status, the Final Reappointment Letter must be uploaded.
- Awaiting Final Approval: OFA will review the Final Reappointment Letter and transition the workflow to an Approved status once it has been accepted.
- Approved: This is the terminal workflow status for the Reappointment workflow and signifies that all necessary steps have been complete in Meridian for the Reappointment.
